I’m a New Englander, from New Hampshire specifically.

The bakery department is full of great personality! We carry a wide array of items to suit our customers’ varied palettes: everything from richly indulgent, to low sugar, gluten free, vegan, chocolately to fruity, as well as standard bakery items and unusual delicacies! We have great locally made and housemade products made from real ingredients consistent with Alfalfa’s core beliefs.

My favorite housemade product right now is the peanut crunch cake- it’s rich and indulgent, chocolately, creamy and crunchy all in one dessert! The Kim & Jake’s Cakes Vegan, Gluten-free Vindalicious cake has become my favorite all-time cake (EVER)! Kim & Jake have hit this unique and delicious cake spot on! It’s moist, richly flavored with Indian spices, and will most likely blow your mind.

I’ve always had a passion for baking. My parents can attest to the successes (and yes, disasters) in the kitchen as I experimented with ingredients and flavors. I love that food brings people together and creates connections among people- that’s always been the common thread and I’m thrilled to be here, surrounded by people who share that love.

I was born in Burlington, Vermont though I have spent a majority of my life in Boulder.

I love my job because it gives me an opportunity to be a part of the community and have experiences that are new and fascinating. I love our free personal shopping and delivery program, because it is such a great service, and I feel truly appreciated by our customers every day.

My love and passion for a healthy lifestyle drew me to work for Alfalfas. There is nothing more delightful and dignifying than getting to promote a lifestyle you believe in.

I’m a born and bred Colorado native. I initially attended CU for business, which led me to pursue dietetics at CSU. Ultimately, I ended up at Naropa where I rounded out my passion for holistic health with a degree in Psychology of Health and Healing.

Being the manager of Alfalfa’s Coffee and Juice Bar is my perfect fit. It allows me to be in the presence of that which means most to me: people and health. Management enables me to practice this incredible balance between leadership, teamwork, and empowerment on a daily basis. My team has become a community within a community, where we not only get to serve the very best local and organic products, but we also get to form lasting relationships with each other and with our customers. We all share a common ground of wanting only the best food and nutrients for ourselves and each other.

My favorite item that we offer is the Dirty Nico with lemon and ginger. It’s truly the perfect “starter juice,” because of its balance of hearty greens and crisp sweetness, and it always reminds me a bit of my grandma. As she always used to say, “Here’s to your liver, lover!”

I’m is originally from St. Louis and have lived in California and Ohio. I’ve called Boulder home for the last 4 years.

My background includes a Bachelors in Accounting, which I used while working for a CPA firm after college. Later, I worked for 14 years in recruiting but always yearned to work in a team environment.

I’ve been shopping exclusively in health food stores since 1984 when I found Mrs. Gooch’s in Hermosa Beach .  When I moved to Ohio, I got sick from a stressful job and no health food stores within 100 miles.  The available fruits & vegetables weren’t organic and I so missed Mrs. Gooch’s and the Farmer’s Markets.  It wasn’t until the early 90’s that Wild Oats came to Cincinnati.  While I still worked full time and traveled with my corporate recruiting position, I managed to get a part-time gig at the local Wild Oats. Eventually, I was moved to the Wellness Department, which was my goal from the start. 

I loved my job buying product and learning more about supplements and body care.  We had many product trainings and I had always read and learned on my own.   Despite the lower pay, I decided to go full time at Wild Oats because I wanted a job that I actually enjoyed. I loved working in the Wellness Department!

After moving to Boulder, I took 2 years off and hiked all the trails in the area and hiked sections of the Colorado Trail.  When I saw that Alfalfa’s was opening a store, I immediately sent in my resume.  It’s amazing the amount I’ve learned in a short period of time, and I love what I do. 

The Wellness Team is made up of so many talented folks that have helped make this department one of the best in Boulder.  I rely on my staff for their knowledge which includes such a wide range including Herbs, Homeopathy, Essential Oils, and everything else.  We love Gaia Herbs, HealthForce Nutritionals, SunWarrior, Vega for supplements and so much more.  For Body Care we love Evan Healy Facial skin care products – they are so beautiful and nurturing.  We also adore Lovely Lady products.  Our Alfalfa’s brand of essential oils are very nice too.  It would take volumes to tell you about all of our great products, you’ll just have to stop by and see for yourself. 

I work for the best team in the store, but of course I’m biased.  Everyone is caring and they make it worthwhile to come to work every day.  The rest of Alfalfa’s is great too.

I am from Long Island NY and moved down to Naples, Florida when I was ten. I came to Colorado for culinary school in 2007 and fell in love with the mountains, culture, and healthy lifestyle. As I continued my food service education at Johnson & Wales University, I began to work in fine dining restaurants to gain experience. My internship at the Warwick Hotel in Denver helped me get a job as a line and banquet cook where I learned to hone my culinary skills and food knowledge. There I met some very talented chefs, including one who would later turn out to be an Alfalfa’s co-worker.  
After I moved to Boulder, I found myself struggling with a kitchen job that wasn’t for me. I was a bit hesitant about working in a grocery store, since I wanted to keep expanding my culinary knowledge, but I landed a job in the Cheese & Specialty department and increased my knowledge! Eventually I worked my way up to becoming the department manager.  I love the Cheese & Specialty department because the world of cheese is so vast. There are so many delicious products out there to discover making it hard to get bored. I also get to make some house made products such as pasta, ricotta, and fresh mozzarella. I have a lot of favorite products so it’s hard to choose just one. So, I’ll give you one of each top categories. For olives it’s the Sicilian castlevetranos, prosciutto; Prosciutto di Parma, crackers; Nita Crisps Wheat, cheese; Santa Teresa Pecorino, salami; Creminelli Sopressata, pate; Alexian Veal & Chicken Pate, deli meat; Creminelli Prosciutto Cotto, jam; Primo Boysenberry Guajillo Preserve.
